What is CodeStilt
An AI coding agent you control from anywhere, that works on your own computer.
CodeStilt is an AI coding agent. You describe a change in plain words, from any browser, your phone or a terminal. CodeStilt reads your project, writes a plan, and waits for you. When you approve, the change is made on your own computer, your tests run, and you can undo everything with one click.
Two halves that work together
| Part | What it does | Where it runs |
|---|---|---|
Web dashboardapp.codestilt.com | Give tasks, read and approve plans, watch progress, review changed files, undo, manage computers, billing and settings. | Any browser, also on phones |
| Desktop app (or the CLI) | Opens only the folders you allow, sends the AI just what a task needs, writes the approved changes, runs your tests, keeps a checkpoint for undo, and enforces the danger wall. | Your Windows, macOS or Linux computer |
The AI never touches your computer directly. It can only suggest file contents and commands; the desktop app checks every suggestion against your rules before anything happens.
How a task works
- You ask. For example: Add a discount code box to the checkout page.
- CodeStilt reads. The desktop app lists your project's files and sends only the relevant ones. Secret files such as
.envare skipped. - You get a plan. Steps in plain words, every file it may change, any risky step it would need, the test command, and the estimated credits.
- You decide. Approve, ask for changes, or cancel. Nothing has changed yet.
- A checkpoint is saved, then the approved files are changed on your computer. Files outside the plan are refused (scope lock).
- Tests run. If they fail, CodeStilt reads the error and tries to fix it, up to 3 tries. Failed tries are free.
- You review. Keep the change, or click Undo all to put every file back exactly.
Safety is built in, not promised. Deleting files, database commands, deploys, installing packages and reading secrets are blocked by the danger wall, which is code running on your computer, outside the AI.
Who it is for
- Developers who want an agent that works while they are away from their desk, and still ask before anything risky.
- Founders and small teams who need changes made safely, with a clear plan and cost first.
- Companies that want AI coding with budgets, roles and an audit log (Teams).
