FAQ

Short answers to the questions people ask most.

Does my code leave my computer?

Only the parts of files a task needs are sent to the AI model, over HTTPS. Secret files are never read, and secrets found inside normal files are hidden before sending. We don't keep your code after the task and it is never used to train AI models. See What is sent and stored.

What if the AI makes a mistake?

Click Undo all (within 7 days). A checkpoint is saved before every task, and undo puts every changed file back exactly and removes files the task created.

Can it work while I'm away?

Yes, as long as the computer is on and the desktop app (or codestilt agent) is running. Approve plans from your phone.

Which languages and frameworks?

Any text-based code: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, PHP, Go, Java, C#, Ruby, Rust, Dart and more. Tests run with your project's own test command.

Which AI models?

Models from Anthropic, OpenAI and Google. See Models.

How much does it cost?

There is a Free plan with 100 credits a month. Paid plans start at $10 a month. Every plan has a hard cap: you are never charged more than your plan. See Plans and Credits.

Do I need Git?

No. CodeStilt keeps its own checkpoint for undo. If you use Git, you'll also see the changes in git diff as usual. CodeStilt never pushes, resets or rewrites Git history.

Does it need the internet?

Yes. The desktop app connects to api.codestilt.com over HTTPS (port 443). See Network and proxy.
